Today’s Reading: Matthew 7: 24-29
A Soviet professor lived for 30 years in a house built on top of a bomb that was dropped there during the Second World War.
This reminds me of the words of Jesus: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
“But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
There are people who build their lives on the rock, others on the sand, and still others on bombs. They think in peace and manufacture weapons; they want equality but practice injustice, they talk about love but live in selfishness.
To build your life on eternal foundations of Christ is the only guarantee we have to survive in times of crisis.
