Today’s Reading: Proverbs 3:5
Many good things can become harmful if done without measure. We need water, but much water causes flooding. Cars are an important means of transportation, but many cars on the same road cause traffic jams. The sun warms our bodies, but if we are exposed to it for long, we’ll suffer heat strokes or burns.
The most important thing for us is to exercise self-control, which originates in our hearts. To have self-control, just be moderate; we need to restrain our impulses, our emotions and desires.
Moderation means stay within certain limits. And this applies to our thoughts, feelings and actions.
But our problems start right there. We fail to stay within those limits. We lose control and our exaggerated actions lead to chaos.
God loves order and we should enjoy his creation. However, we will only enjoy life if we live within the established limits.
