Today’s Reading: John 6:1-5
“Sometime after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. The Jewish Passover Festival was near. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?’”

On one occasion, Jesus and his disciples were so busy they had no time even to eat. Jesus then tells them that they will leave town for a little rest; however, many people followed them. Jesus had pity on those people and continued taking care and teaching everybody.
We also need to pause to regain our strength. At least one day a week should be devoted to rest and spiritual nourishment. Sunday is a good day; because most people do not work they can meet together to renew their spirit.
The church is a place where we can go to get away from the race of life. In the church we can worship God and study the teachings of Jesus. In the church we have the opportunity to share our sorrows and hopes, our disappointments and our faith with others who face the weariness of life.
This Sunday, you can try it, go to a church. Forget the world around you and revitalize your spiritual strength. If you need help finding a church that takes seriously the Christian life, talk to people. Perhaps we can also help.
