Today’ Reading: Matthew 6:31-33 Version ESV
Inflation, economic crisis, high interest rates, bankruptcies are common words in our everyday life. Today, a good job does not represent professional satisfaction, what is sought is a good wage. The higher wages, the better the jobs, this is the general opinion.
This philosophy of life based on material values, does not have inner satisfaction neither peace among people. There is always a struggle to possess, dominate, and prestige.
Money buys many things and can even buy people, but cannot buy the basic things of life. Money cannot buy a sincere friendship, neither a stable and happy family relationship. Money cannot buy a clear conscience, or inner peace. Money cannot buy happiness.
We must fight for a life without excessive concerns, without unnecessary anxieties. We should not foolishly get goods at any cost. That’s not according to the faith we profess in a God who provides all we need now and in the future. A God who tells us not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ We should rather seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to us.
