Today’s Reading: Genesis 2:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:11-14 Version NIV
Everyone likes to be independent; to do everything independently, to live without depending on others. Is this true?
Self-sufficiency is often praised, to the point that we make unpleasant remarks about those who are not self-sufficient.
However, God does not see things the same way we do. Therefore He says: “It is not good that the man should be alone.”
God created us to live in community; to help each other.
When the tendency to self-sufficiency attacks us, we must remember God’s instruction in the Bible: “Therefore, encourage one another…be at peace among yourselves…we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with everyone.”
You must understand the way God wants us to live. It takes courage and wisdom to confess our dependence!
God has made us dependent beings, as people around us let us know; and through them, we discover our beauty and our value.

we are called to be community builders wherever we go. It’s easier to run away and be part of a community of people we like and agree with. Thanks for today’s devotional.
