Self-sufficient
Today’s Reading: 1 Thesalonians 5:11-14 Version CEV

We all like to be self-sufficient; we want to do everything alone, living without having to rely on others. Isn’t that so?

God sees things differently, so He says it is not good for man to be alone. He created us to live in community, to help each other.

God made us dependent beings, as people around us make us feel useful, and through them we discover our beauty and our value.

We need to understand how God wants us to live. It takes courage and wisdom to confess our dependence!

Someone once wrote some very wise words about our interdependence: “Encourage and help each other, try to get along with each other, encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone”. These words come from the Bible.

We must seek to follow this teaching of God, giving assistance to someone who needs us today. We must do this in the name of Jesus. He helps us to understand, accept and love people around us.
