Humility of Jesus Final
Today’s Reading: Mark 10:45
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+10%3A45&version=NIV

On one occasion, Jesus took a basin of water and a towel and went to wash the feet of the disciples. When Jesus began to wash and dry the feet of each of them, the disciples were amazed and Peter reacted this way: “You will never wash my feet.”

Jesus was teaching his disciples on how to serve others with humility.

When we serve, we discover that our arrogance has no reason to exist and the act of service gets us closer to people who live with us. By doing this, always serving, we will be freeing ourselves of selfishness and the attitudes that separate us from the society.

Serving is one of the most beautiful ways to show that we love our neighbor, to serve our community and to get closer to the example set by Jesus.

Jesus, being a teacher and Lord, knelt as a slave before his disciples and washed their feet giving them a lesson in love and humility.

Jesus came to serve, not to be served and our Christian life must begin in the same way, serving our neighbor.

Eliminate the Attitude
Today’s Reading: Psalm 62:9 Galatians 5:26 James 1:9 Job 20:6-7 Version=CEV

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+62%3A9%3B+Galatians+5%3A26%3B+James+1%3A9%3B+Job+20%3A6-7&version=CEV

“Where do you work? What do you do?” These are some of the questions we get when we meet a person. If an individual is an executive, to us it could seem to be a person of prestige, power and respect. But if it is a simple worker with calloused hands, sunburned, we do not give much attention or any prominence to them.

If a girl is going to marry an engineer, people say: “It will be a good marriage”; but if he marries a simple manual laborer, our thinking is different.

We value people by what they do and what they are. God, however, has given us different gifts, and each individual has their own abilities. Some skills are more visible than others, but everyone is important.

God has given each of us different abilities and gifts, according to his will. If God does that distribution of gifts and considers all equally important, it is we who need to change. We need to re-evaluate the judgment we make of our fellow men.

A psalmist wrote in the Bible: “We humans are only a breath; none of us are truly great. All of us together weigh less than a puff of air”.

We challenge you to eliminate that attitude of arrogance and value both the one that picks up the trash or the barber, as the doctor or engineer.

Fertile Land
Today’s Reading Luke 7:36-50 Version – CEV
Simon, an important man in the city, made a formal invitation to Jesus to come to dinner with him. Jesus accepted the invitation and went to Simon’s house for dinner. In the middle of dinner, a prostitute in this city entered the room and knelt at the feet of Jesus.

Simon, always suspicious, stood watching this intruder and thought, “This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, she is a sinner.”

Jesus not only knew about the fame of the woman weeping at his feet, but also that her tears were sincere. Jesus could see into her heart.

Simon could only see a sinful woman who touched Jesus’ feet and suspicious of the authenticity of Jesus for allowing that to happen. Jesus not only looked at the heart of women, but also to the heart of his host, Simon.

At the heart of the woman she had sincere repentance; in the heart of man there was arrogance and self-sufficiency.

That story ended this way: Jesus was just passing by the house of Simon. However, Jesus lived permanently in the heart and life of the sinful woman, because her heart was fertile ground.

Vanity

Vanity 2
Today’s Reading Ecclesiastes 1:1-2
Please pay attention to the following story: Every morning, a large car arrived in front of a bank. The door opened, and a well-dressed man in a dark suit stepped out of the car. He walked with a cane, greeting some elegantly, waving others slightly. He entered the bank, crossing the hall and disappeared through a small door inside. There, in the room of the officials, he got rid of his fine clothes, dressed in the elevator operator uniform and operated the elevator facility throughout the day. At the end of the day, he dressed again like a banker and appeared in the hall just as he had done in the morning. He entered the car that waited for him and disappeared. He had a more imposing appearance than the president of the bank.

This is vanity, considered as the trait of being unduly vain or conceited. Vanity exists in the hearts of men, but seems ridiculous in the eyes of God. For God knows what happens in the human heart, even the most hidden secrets.

Does vanity dwells in your heart? Our vanity and pride disappear when we compare our lives with the life of Christ. He was immense and made himself small, he was rich and became poor, he was Lord and became a servant. In Jesus, vanity, arrogance and pride disappear before the humble spirit of love and service.
