The Freind Jesus ENG
Today’s Reading: John 15:9-17 Version ESV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+15%3A9-17&version=ESV

How many friends do you have? But real friends. Do you know that to have friends is directly related to love? True love.

But, who do you really love? Friends are not those who love you, but those that you love. This love is always reciprocated, or at least it should be. It is that there is no friendship without love.

After all, a friend is the one who willingly shares his life with others. The number of friends that you have has its limits, the limits set by the capacity to love. Love has limits, limits as to the amount and as to the quality. We cannot love all people and those that we love we do not love with the same intensity. There are friends that we love most, like those closest to us and in some cases, they become almost like brothers or sisters.

Of all our friends, the one who showed greater love was Jesus. He gave his life for us. Such debt of love is priceless. So, voluntarily we become a slave to this friend. Now I follow his orders. What He command us is simple, however, it is very difficult. “That you love one another as I have loved you!” For that love, he gave his life.

Hospitality
Today’s Reading: 1 Peter 4:9-11 Version CEV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Peter%204:9-11

Most of us have received unexpected visitors. Isn’t that true? In most cases, these people do not stop apologizing, “Excuse me for coming unannounced, excuse the inconvenience, I didn’t want to bother you, etc., etc.” Apologizing for everything!

The attitude of the owners of the house is what determines if the environment is pleasant or not. Some have the wonderful gift of being able to receive visitors in all kinds of circumstances and conditions: It is possible that the house is messy but, who cares? Others, however, claim that all is well; but when the visitor leaves, they start complaining and saying it would have been better if he had not come.

We recommend that you practice hospitality. It is easy to understand the warnings about brotherly love, self-control etc. But to us hospitality seems to be a small issue! Why do we make this recommendation? In the past, it was common that the traveler was staying at the home of the family. And although times have changed, people are still more important than anything else.

So we must ask God, “Lord, help us practice hospitality with pleasure, and give our attention and friendship to those who come to our house. Amen.”

Friends-3
Today’s Reading: John 14:6
To say nice things, even if they should be a tough truth is a good way to get along with most people. Almost nobody gets upset when they hear good things about themselves. However, a relationship based on flattery, apart from not lasting long, leads us to live in unreal and illusory situations.

People need us to speak the truth, though at first the truth can hurt them, sooner or later they will realize that true friends are those who speak the truth with a sincere desire to help. Be honest; tell the truth, it does not have to be rude or offensive. Arrogant sincerity, without love, is synonymous with an attitude that puts us in a position of superiority and self-sufficiency.

The truth must be expressed, but with smooth and gentle words, filled with love. Love that doesn’t reproach, love that only suffers with the mistakes and the blunders of our brothers and sisters. The truth must be told; but it is only possible when we live in the truth, when we walk in the truth.

Of course, the truth exists. Jesus is the truth!

Friendship: Comfort And Comparison

friendship-2
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 18:24; 17:17
What is, truly, a friend? A friend is an instrument of comfort. It is the person to whom we entrust our secrets and fears and from whom we receive comfort. Before a friend we have the audacity to show the innermost aspects of our lives.

We do not expect from him careless irony or destructive criticism. The hand of a friend is a help and relief hand. A friend is also an instrument of comparison. He makes us love justice and avoid evil. A friend is used by God as a mirror in which we see the reflection of the wickedness and the hardness of our hearts.

A true friend not only speaks words we like; what we want to hear. A true friend is not flattering. He participates in our joy, but disagrees with our mistakes. The hand of a friend guides us and disciplines us.

Being a friend means to have love and be faithful. It’s not possible to be faithful without love. Love comforts, fidelity compares. Jesus wants to be your friend!
