Do Not Judge
Do Not Judge!
Today’s Reading: Luke 6:37-38, 41-42 Version CEV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+6%3A37-38%3B+41-42&version=CEV

The truth is that we cannot live without judging or making judgements. We make them constantly; and sometimes it is necessary to judge: When certain atrocities are committed, prosecution should be quick and firm. We cannot remain silent. But in certain situations, the wise keep silent.

Jesus says: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged” (Matthew 7: 1). And Paul warns us that to judge the brother in certain circumstances may be inappropriate and wrong. . (Romans 14)

A good example of improper judgment is the church in the time of the Apostle Paul, who was beginning to have division. Christians argued among themselves because some said it was forbidden to eat certain foods. Some were weak in the faith, other stronger. Some were demanding and were proud of it. Some arrogant people placed themselves above others, and they thought they could understand the reasons and the sins of their brothers. They forgot, therefore, that God is the Supreme Judge and that we must humble in his presence.

Prayerfully, we must distinguish between correct judgment and arrogant condemnation. We must examine our reasons and stop blaming others. God, who knows our hearts and minds, will help us remember this and to become humble servants of Christ.

Today’s Reading: Matthew 11:29
What is humility? Well, humility is not lack of effort to progress. It’s not shyness. Humility is not poverty. It’s quite possible that we meet timid or poor people that are extremely proud. It is also possible to meet a rich man who is humble.

Today, when people are concerned with things like power, prestige and status; humility is ridiculed.

Jesus not only taught humility, but also lived it: being God and Lord, never demanded places of honor, nor sought popular applause or made use of its prerogatives to avoid any kind of aggression, offense or distress. To all and everyone he responded with love and kindness. He even came to wash the feet of his disciples.

Humility is the way that relieves our heavy loads. Humility eliminates our so called self-control, our sense of superiority and self-sufficiency, leading to the feet of Christ to accept his invitation. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Peacemakers - PGN small
Today’s Reading John 14:27
Peace, a nice word with a deep meaning, much discussed among men, but also seriously compromised by their attitudes. The human beings seem unable to understand that their ambitions threaten the lives of others and jeopardize their welfare. Even worse, there are people looking for profit and advantages overlooking justice and rights, basic elements that peace between people is built on.

Jesus calls peacemakers “blessed” or happy. But after all, who are the peacemakers? The peacekeepers have a Christian conscience of what is justice, law, and the welfare of others. So, they sow peace wherever they walk.

Peacemakers are always ready to act swiftly and boldly when people around them are affected by conflict and strife. They are always promoting peace.

Peacemakers are humble; they understand that peace is not always achieved through government’s diplomacy but also through simple gestures that reveal to men, righteousness and the love of God.

May God make us instruments of peace in this world full of strife!
