The Prophet Final-1
Today’s Reading: Amos 7:10-14 Version NIV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Amos+7%3A10-14&version=NIV

When I think of a prophet, I think of that young man from the desert named Amos.

He appeared in public preaching against disobedience and corruption of the people and government. Amaziah, who was the priest of the most important sanctuary in the country, learned of the preaching of Amos and send a message to the king: “Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent a message to Jeroboam king of Israel. Amos is raising a conspiracy against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words. For this is what Amos is saying: Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their native land. Then Amaziah said to Amos: Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there. Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom. Amos answered Amaziah: I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.”

Amos was a prophet; however, this was not his profession. He was not a visionary or a puppet of formal religion and lifeless, of Amaziah the priest.

You know what? Today, there are “prophets” by profession, seers who make fortunes and amaze people with their “supernatural powers”. There are “prophets” by conceit, a kind of spiritual conceit. These “prophets” are trying to convince us that they speak on behalf of the Lord. When the Lord speaks to us today he speaks through the Son, Jesus the Prophet. (Hebrews 1: 2) The message of Jesus comes from God and it may be uncomfortable: “Leave your life of sin!”

Friend, God in human form, Jesus God, kingdom of God, Master, Nazarene, prophet, Savior, Son of God, worship Jesus

Who is Jesus
Who is Jesus?
Today’s Reading: Luke 22:70, John 4:25-26

Who is Jesus for you? Nobody has ever received so many names like Jesus. He is Master, Friend, Prophet, Savior, and Nazarene. All these names help to describe certain aspects of the person and life of Jesus. Jesus’ names help us learn more about his history, and the time in which he lived here on earth.

If you call Jesus “Master”, you will recognize how He taught the truth of the Kingdom of God. He always spoke with authority, and taught the words of eternal life.

If you call Jesus “Savior”, you will highlight his love by giving His life to clean the sin of men.

There is something special about Jesus that makes Him different from all teachers, prophets and leaders who have passed through the earth. Jesus is God, God in human form. Jesus himself says he is “the Son of God.” Given this statement of Jesus, you must consider Him as God and worship Him, or you must conclude that He was a liar and an impostor.

Who is Jesus for you? From now on always answer with absolute certainty: “Jesus is God, my God, my Lord and my Savior!”

Fertile Land
Today’s Reading Luke 7:36-50 Version – CEV
Simon, an important man in the city, made a formal invitation to Jesus to come to dinner with him. Jesus accepted the invitation and went to Simon’s house for dinner. In the middle of dinner, a prostitute in this city entered the room and knelt at the feet of Jesus.

Simon, always suspicious, stood watching this intruder and thought, “This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, she is a sinner.”

Jesus not only knew about the fame of the woman weeping at his feet, but also that her tears were sincere. Jesus could see into her heart.

Simon could only see a sinful woman who touched Jesus’ feet and suspicious of the authenticity of Jesus for allowing that to happen. Jesus not only looked at the heart of women, but also to the heart of his host, Simon.

At the heart of the woman she had sincere repentance; in the heart of man there was arrogance and self-sufficiency.

That story ended this way: Jesus was just passing by the house of Simon. However, Jesus lived permanently in the heart and life of the sinful woman, because her heart was fertile ground.
