Today’s Reading: Ephesians 5:28-33; Matthew 19:6 Version ESV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+5%3A28-33%3B+Matthew+19%3A6&version=ESV

Marriage is consummated, is completed in the sexual union. However, marriage goes beyond physical union. Marriage includes all other areas of life: social, mental and spiritual.

They are married! From now on, even though they are two different persons, it is as if they were one person, one flesh.

To love your wife is like loving your own body, says the Bible. There are no straight words like these to describe the union between a man and a woman, and that is done through marriage. They describe the union and leave a warning: The body needs warmth, tenderness and resents abuse!

There is a lot of sexual depravity and depravity of character in our society; this generates anxiety, emptiness, and loneliness. Unfortunately, there is selfishness, fights and separations between spouses; they always leave behind a trail of suffering and distress. However, nothing can destroy or obscure the union between a man and a woman who was made before God and with his blessing. Such a union brings life, joy, sincerity, comfort and is the basis of society. What God has joined together, no human being will be able to destroy.

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 16:7
A psychiatrist said: “The emotional development of a child depends on a close, direct and continuing relationship with parents.” If this is true, how do the children of divorced parents manage?

In cases of separation from parents, 90% of children suffer, believing that they are rejected and abandoned. The roots, the family ties are falling apart and households are crumbling.

If the hope between husband and wife cause pain and so much sadness, even worse is the separation between man and God, his Creator. According to the Bible, God gives us life and breath and everything else; through him we live and move and have our being. We were created by God to live in Him and with Him. On the other hand, sin destroyed the perfect relationship we had with God and caused a great separation that can only be saved by Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.

To live in peace with those around us, we need to be at peace with God. If we live apart from God, how can we live in harmony with others? Repentance renews our relationship with God and with men; and renewal brings harmony, peace and the end of separation and alienation.

God with Us
Today’s Reading: Psalm 63:8
God made us social beings; to live in the company of family and friends. However, not all like to live in such an environment. When a separation occurs, either a friend or relative, we can feel an immense solitude.

The world is full of lonely people. Those who have been separated by divorce or death are well aware of what is loneliness. Others feel lonely despite being surrounded by crowds.

Missionaries working in remote locations know about loneliness. People who work in counseling centers are dedicated to receive countless calls from people who feel lonely and have no one to talk to. Our Lord Jesus Christ also experienced isolation in the desert and on the cross, saying, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46).

We are children of God and we must not forget that in our solitude, He will never depart from us. Remember the words of David: “My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholds me.”

These words bring us security. In our loneliness, our alienation, God is with us, filling our lives with your presence and your love. When you are alone, remember the words of the poet: “God dwells with me!”
