PARENTS AND CHILDREN
Today’s Reading: Deuteronomy+6:6-7; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4 Version ESV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+6%3A6-7%2CProverbs+22%3A6%2CEphesians+6%3A4&version=ESV

What is the place of children in the family? How do we face them during marital crisis? Some deceive themselves by thinking that, when children come, comprehension and understanding between them will be back. What often happens is that the children take the place of the husband or the wife, and this is a serious problem. The children are temporarily given; they come and then leave. You need to understand this. Our wife must be for us the most important person in the family. On the other hand, we expect to continue to remain number one in her life.

And what should be the position of the parents in relation to the children? It should be a position of authority, not authoritarianism; they must raise and avoid alienating the children.

Raising children requires a commitment to live before them the principles of God, teaching them such principles. In this experience, the husband and wife need to find agreement and cooperation. They must be united in the decisions and cannot remove the authority of the other in front of the children.

The husband and wife need to have the wisdom and grace of Christ to support each other’s lives in the difficult days.

The Love of Jesus Final
Today’s Reading: 1 John 4:10 Version CEV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+John+4%3A10&version=CEV

Love! Love! A word so small, so simple and yet often misunderstood and sometimes unknown, in relation to its real meaning.

To talk about love is to talk about Jesus Christ, because for Him love is much more than an abstract idea: it’s a lifestyle.

To worship God and to love our neighbor is a way to show love. And love can be demonstrated through forgiveness, understanding, justice, brotherhood and intercession.

Jesus’ teachings were made in the form of phrases, filled of love, whose contents he demonstrated with his actions. Many were touched by the love of Jesus, many! Paralytics, epileptics, blind, possessed, and none stopped from being struck by the love that came from heaven.

There is no emptiness in the human heart that cannot be filled by love. And we, creatures of God have the ability to love because He loved us first and sent his only Son to die for us. Is there a love greater than this? Would you be willing to die for your friends?

Jesus tells us to love those around us and only then we will become his disciples.

It's Never Enough
Today’s Reading: Genesis 4:1-17
The mother never gets tired of saying to the child: “Do not play with matches, do not cross the street alone!” And the child does not get tired of answering: “I know, I know!” However the mother replies, “I know you know, but I don’t want you to forget.”

Some warnings need to be repeated, since they are vital for our loved ones because they forget easily.

God always repeats and reminds us not to forget that we love one another. The consequences are disastrous if we forget these words. We must remember the Bible story about one son called Cain; his lack of love led him to kill his own brother, Abel. The story draws a parallel between the lack of love and murder. They look like two very different things, but in reality the consequences are the same.

Whenever we insult, criticize, offend or humiliate a person; by thought, word or deed; it’s as if we killed our neighbor. And if we continue to do so, we slowly and mercilessly destroy him.

Similarly, if we love, understand and respect our neighbor, he will improve; his joys will be multiplied; and his sorrows will be reduced or eliminated.

Separation Wall 2
Today’s Reading: Colossians 3:12-13 Version CEV
The Berlin Wall was built in August 1961 and tear down in November 1989. This means that there were 28 years of separation. However, it did not separate enemies but brothers. Separating people from the same family, people of the same race.

We raise walls when we stop talking with someone. Friendship ends, respect no longer exists, communication and relationships are broken. This may also occur inside the home. A wall can rise between husband and wife, between parents and children, between brothers and sisters. A wall rises when secrets are kept, when disrespect; or when love, understanding, kindness, turn into purely selfish desires.

Do not increase the height of that wall with your indifference! Do not build insurmountable barriers because of your intolerance! Do not put wire fences with hurtful and damaging words! By contrast, completely destroy what causes separation. Return to the path of dialogue. Restore the lost communication.

It is possible to break down the wall. Not with spikes, hammers or heavy equipment. The wall of enmity, hatred, misunderstanding and division collapses with the instrument of forgiveness!

Follow the advice of God: “Forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you.”

Power of Good
Today’s Reading: Mark 7:21-23 Version CEV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+7%3A21-23&version=CEV
In contemplating so much corruption, so much evil, so much selfishness and violence, we think, “All is lost, there is no hope for humanity. It seems that there is no room for kindness, brotherhood, love, understanding between people. The power of evil has spread everywhere, generating hatred, enmity, fights and even death”.

You cannot see death, cannot touch it, but you can feel its effects. Evil comes from the depths, into the heart of people. The Lord says: “Out of your heart come evil thoughts, vulgar deeds, stealing, murder, unfaithfulness in marriage, greed, meanness, deceit, indecency, envy, insults, pride, and foolishness. All of these come from your heart, and they are what make you unfit to worship God.”

However, all is not lost. We think, “Good has been defeated again; but from the ashes he raises to truth and justice. Hatred, violence, lies, envy, crucified Jesus. In the darkness of that day, the forces of evil could have danced and celebrated the victory. But that did not happen. Jesus rose to life, conquering death and sin and all it represented. It was the strength and power of God’s love that triumphed over hatred and evil.

Do good, stay close to Jesus and love your neighbor. This world will not be transformed by hatred and violence, but by the power of justice and the love of God.

A Health Problem
Today’s Reading: Matthew 9:11-13 – Version NIV
Human beings need to recognize and acknowledge their own sin. This is one of the most difficult demands of Christianity.

People easily see the mistakes and shortcomings of others, but does not admit their own mistakes. If someone criticizes us, we become hostile and always find some reason to justify our attitudes.

The truth is only one, nobody’s perfect. We sin with our thoughts and our deeds; when selfishness overcomes us and we stop doing what is right.

If someone is ill but continues to say that it’s not, he will die without receiving medical attention.

We need to acknowledge and recognize our sin immediately in order to be able to receive God’s remedy. God’s remedy is forgiveness and new life. These are the words of Jesus: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Admit and confess our sin is not easy. Start with a gesture of humility; follow the path of repentance and end in a serious decision to change your attitudes and your lives.

One thing is certain, when we admit and confess our sin; we end up looking at the faults of others with more understanding and patience.

Love Overcomes Incomprehension

Incomprehension-2
T
oday’s Reading: Ezekiel 33:30-33
“Nobody understands me, nobody understands me!” This is the expression of many people. There are many people who feel misunderstood. They think that those around do not care for them enough to understand.

But for you to be understood, it is necessary that other people hear what you have to say. And this means you have to open your heart with sincerity. Also, for you to be understood by others will require that you understand them. If we are not willing to listen carefully to what people have to say about us, we will not be able to understand them. So if others do not understand, how can they understand us?

Before you say: No one understands me, nobody understands me! make the decision to comprehend and understand others.

Of course this will cost you, at least a commitment of sincere love, of confidence without yielding. Before you say: No one understands me in this house, try to listen to others, understand them and give them of your time.

Remember: Love overcomes incomprehension. In Christ you find love and forgiveness. He loves and comprehends you!

What Children Need Most

children 3
You need to always be doing an assessment of your life. Your family, especially your children, need you now when they are growing. Children who spend the whole day without the affectionate presence of their parents, without feeling the security that your authority represent, without physical contact with them, without your spiritual warmth, have the potential of ending with all forms of imbalances.

Without the presence of their parents, what advantage will they draw in the future just because you provided them with a good school, a nice house or a nice car? If their lives are disrupted by psychological crises, fighting and insecurity at home, all the material goods that they can enjoy will be of little value in their lives and their emotional state.

What children need most, time, love, understanding, discipline, you can give now. Just some dedication, time and a lot of love for them will do. Rest assured that the investment represented by these intangibles will mean for them, the difference between success and failure.
