Jesus Christ Our High Priest
JESUS OUR HIGH PRIEST
Today’s Reading: Ephesians 4:10-12; 1 John 2:27 Version NIV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+4%3A10+-12%3B+1+John+2%3A27&version=NIV

Anyone can be impressed with Catholic temples built in many of the historical towns of our continent. These church buildings were built hundreds of years ago and are now landmarks. In a temple like this, the people are separated from the altar, where the priest and his assistants held a ceremony called the mass. The priest administers the sacraments, hear confessions, absolve penitents, intercede for the people and teach. However, how about Protestant and Evangelical churches? Do they represent the priesthood of all believers? The pastor visits the sick, exhorts and consoles, administers the sacraments, make the prayers, and bless the people, while they listen at a distance.

Jesus himself gave the church pastors and teachers. Others call their leaders priests. However, there is only one true priest, Jesus Christ. We do not need any other. The anointing of the Spirit of God is given to all; all are anointed of God’s Spirit. Jesus’ sacrifice is unique. In him the altar, the temple, the human priest and the division between laity and clergy were abolished.

In Christ, all serve and all intercede. That’s it! You are a minister of Christ in the world. Do not give someone else the responsibility and the privilege of serving in the name of Christ! It’s your call!

Happy New Year 2016-b
Today’s Reading: John 8:12 Version CEV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+8%3A12&version=CEV

Happy New Year! All celebrate with joy, happiness and parties. Congratulations, congratulations! A year has passed full of experiences, activities of all kinds. Someone once said, past events bring light to our present for the hope of the future.

We all have hope, dreams and expectations, especially at the beginning of a New Year. We are credible actors in the theater of life. Players, spectators, undoubtedly with personal and communal experiences that in some cases will be remembered for a lifetime. Diseases, loss of loved ones, job changes, and marital status, birth of new members in the family, successes and failures.

For the wise, all these facts, which are already in the past, have extraordinary value. God has given us the blessing of memory and hope, but sometimes we do not care to remember the events that have been drastic and painful. But for the wise life is like a laboratory where he learned what works and what does not. And this brings hope and light for the New Year so that the future will be one filled with joy and gladness.

Jesus said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.”

Congratulations, congratulations. Happy New Year!

Jesus Order

Look around you. What do you see? A worn out world; a sad and ugly reality; where selfishness, violence and immorality are close to an embarrassing level. Therefore, as Christians, we are called to bring light to the darkness, joy where there is sadness, peace where discord prevail, life where there is death.

Jesus left, for all Christians, a very clear order to this effect: ” Then he told them: Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world.” (Mark 16:15 CEV)

We interpret that order as the most tender expression of God’s love for us, God’s love for all who are tired, sad, hurt, and desperate.

To bring Christ to others, we must repudiate, with all our heart, all sins, the attachment to material goods and selfishness; giving to Jesus the absolute control of our thoughts, intentions and actions.

We must pray and ask today, “Lord Jesus, give me the ability to spread your love to this lost and confused world, May I become a light where the darkness of sin and evil are present. Let me be love where hatred and discord prevail, in your name”. Amen.

Glory to God in the Highest
Today’s Reading: Luke 2:1-19 Version GNT
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+2%3A1-19&version=GNT

Hallelujah, Hallelujah! They sing up to the very heavens with harmonic voices and down here in the terrestrial grounds! At all levels, from far and near, in different languages, everywhere there are shocks and strange things and expectation beyond measure. Note that the heavens opened and from there choirs ever heard for their harmony and beauty and joy came down singing. They sing like it has never been sung on this earth and this is the song: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.” These angels had been occupied since before the foundation of the world in the preparation of this revealing day. That day was born in a manger in Bethlehem the Son of God made man. Jesus, “The Savior of the World”.

Not only were angelic beings who sang that day. It was something cosmic, universal, something that affected all levels of humanity. Yes, yes, of course, there were the humble people, perhaps the most humble of all because they were working people who took care of their cattle and sheep in the neighboring hills. Then angels came and announced the good news. And they, in turn, shaken in their hearts, left their sheep and hurried into town to see what happened. And they saw, marveled and were amazed. And seeing, they could do nothing but praise, praise, sing and sing Christmas songs, songs of joy and happiness and salvation. The most humble shepherds of the earth.

Do you think Jesus is only for the humble? Let me tell you they certainly need him. And the humble are so humble that they would be the first to admit it. But this Jesus is as necessary for the monarch and the director and the chief and the great and famous people. If it was good news for the Wise Men of the East, it could also be good news for the important people of today. There is no doubt, for God judges everyone by the same standard and that includes you.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Glory to God in the highest, Jesus the Savior of the world is born this day, Amen.
