Today’s Reading: Psalm 1:1-3 Version=ESV
By chance does Mrs. Happiness dwell here? Asked the stranger. Mrs. who? Mrs. Happiness, an old lady, an already retired teacher.
No sir, answers the tenant. I know no one here by that name. I have the impression that you have the wrong address.
That man was telling the truth. True, true happiness did not live there; it could not live there.
The neighborhood is residential, modern houses with gardens in front, and some with pools in the backyard. Someone might ask: Is it possible that happiness does not live in one of these houses, which seem to have everything, they lack nothing?
Who has the right address of happiness is the author of Psalm one. He knows that happiness does not live in luxurious houses but happy hearts.
The Bible says: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
